Geo Sea is a geothermal seawater bathing venue at Vitaslod 1 in Husavik, North Iceland. Its cliffside setting overlooks Skjalfandi Bay. It is a purpose-built bathing facility supplied by boreholes, not an ocean-swimming beach or a whale-watching excursion.

Admission: verify the current checkout total

Published Icelandic price blockISK
Adult7,490
Children six to sixteen3,990
Ages zero to fiveFree with an adult
Towel rental1,590
Swimsuit rental1,290
Bathrobe rental2,790

The Icelandic price URL also retains a lower legacy English-language block, including an adult rate of ISK 6,490, and multiple concession figures. The dedicated /en/prices page now matches the repeated Icelandic adult/child/rental figures. This remaining legacy-text conflict is not a reason to promise the cheaper price. Confirm the booking total for your date; this guide uses the repeatedly displayed Icelandic adult/child/rental figures as a planning snapshot and does not standardize the concession rate.

Bringing your own towel avoids the listed rental extra. Gift credit and admission are separate products; having a gift code does not establish availability for every slot. The terms state that rental items included in a package remain subject to availability, with an outlined remedy if unavailable.

Hours and water-exit cutoffs

The homepage currently shows 12:00-22:00 daily. The practical-information page contains several overlapping seasonal blocks: the Icelandic schedule gives October-March 12:00-22:00, April-May and September 10:00-22:00, and June-August 10:00-midnight. Some English text generalizes winter differently. For an April or May visit, confirm opening directly rather than treating conflicting blocks as resolved.

The consistent water-exit rule is 21:45 when closing 22:00, and 23:45 for midnight summer closing. Plan changing time after water exit. Neither cutoff is a verified last-admission timetable; choose the actual booking slot and leave margin for arrival.

Water, facilities and shoreline views

The operator describes seawater from two boreholes and continuous flow through the bathing pools. It gives approximately 38-39 C for the warm water. We do not repeat claims that bathing treats a medical condition. A pool temperature is also not a guarantee of comfort or suitability for every visitor.

Lockers and shower toiletries are described in the facilities information. Washing without swimwear before entry is required in the safety rules. The swim-up bar and refreshment area sell food/drinks separately; they are not an unlimited refreshment inclusion. Seeing wildlife or northern lights from the property is possible only under suitable conditions and is not a ticket guarantee.

Children and bathing rules

The terms require children up to fifteen to be accompanied by an adult guardian. The stated maximum is two children per guardian unless that guardian is their parent. Ages two to eight must wear the free inflatable armbands provided. Armbands do not replace supervision.

Pools are described as 90-120 cm deep, and the mineral-rich water can be cloudy. Non-swimmers must tell staff; diving is prohibited. These are meaningful differences from a pool designed for exercise or children's active play. Follow the venue's quiet-bathing rules and staff directions.

Changes and cancellations

One to three days, 24-72 hours50%
Less than 24 hoursNone

Submit cancellation in writing to geosea@geosea.is. Changes also require the booking reference and cannot be requested after the original time has passed. A ticket is valid for the selected date/time and a late arrival does not guarantee availability. Third-party sellers can have their own booking process; use your actual confirmation.

Refreshments and a workable visit budget

The dedicated dining page describes a light-refreshment area that guests can use in swimwear and a robe between bathing sessions. It does not establish a full hot-meal menu or kitchen timetable. If dinner is important to your day, confirm the menu and service directly or arrange a separate meal in town. A robe shown in venue photographs is not proof that one is included in your admission.

Using the repeated Icelandic figures above, two adults and two children aged six to sixteen total ISK 22,960 for entry. Adding four rental towels would increase that to ISK 29,320. These are our calculations, not an operator family package or a guaranteed checkout quote. The example shows why a family's packing choices matter, while the conflicting English price block remains unresolved.

A late bathing slot, restaurant reservation and onward drive should be planned together. The published water-exit time leaves changing time before closure; it is not permission to start a long meal after the building shuts. We have not verified public-transport frequency or a hotel shuttle and do not imply transport is bundled with entry.

Frequently asked questions

Is the water seawater?

Yes. The operator describes borehole-supplied geothermal seawater, not seawater warmed only by the sun.

Which price should I trust?

The official page has conflicting language blocks. Check the current booking total; do not rely on the lower English block alone.

Can children visit?

Yes, under the venue's adult-supervision and armband rules. The ticket age band and supervision age are different.

Is accessibility fully verified?

No. Contact the operator about changing-room access, pool entry and companion arrangements before booking if these are essential.

What the fresh English pages clarify

The dedicated English price page now agrees with the repeated Icelandic panels on adult ISK 7,490, children six-sixteen ISK 3,990 and the listed towel/swimsuit/robe rentals. The lower English adult ISK 6,490 block remains embedded on the Icelandic price URL, and old concession figures still appear even on some newer panels. We therefore distinguish the active language page from legacy text rather than describe every English figure as lower. The final dated checkout remains decisive. English prices Mixed-language price page.

The canonical English about page separately lists October-March 12:00-22:00, April-May and September 10:00-22:00, and June-August 10:00-midnight. The Icelandic page includes differently scoped legacy text farther down. Use the current date and live booking rather than merge all blocks into one confident year-round timetable. Getting to the lighthouse and handling a ticket

The official directions identify the base of the bright yellow Husavikurviti lighthouse on Husavik's northern edge. They link year-round Straeto services to Husavik and name Travel North and Fjallasyn for shuttle services in the area. This does not establish a direct bus to the bath entrance, a current departure timetable or an included hotel transfer. Check the last local leg and return before choosing a slot. Directions and provider links.

Fresh terms confirm that the emailed barcode is single-use and that staff may request the payment card or photo identification. If GeoSea itself cancels for operational, natural-hazard or weather reasons, the stated remedy is a full refund or a change without a change fee. That differs from a customer's 24-72-hour cancellation, which receives only 50%. Ticket and cancellation terms.

The terms also limit each adult to three alcoholic purchases while in the baths and list a lost-wristband fee of ISK 5,000. These are operational rules observed on 2 November 2026, not an incentive or a guarantee of service; staff can refuse intoxicated guests. Accessibility measurements, a last-admission cutoff and parking arrangements still need confirmation when relevant.
