Forest Lagoon, also called Skogarbodin, is a geothermal bathing venue in Vadlaskogur in Eyjafjardarsveit, across the fjord from Akureyri. It is a short drive from town, but shuttle schedules and children's evening limits can determine which entry time actually works for your party.

Tickets and the real cost of extras

Calm10,150Drink and towel included
Delight11,210Two drinks and towel included

The homepage lists towel rental at ISK 1,400 and says Icelandic currency is accepted. Read the selected package carefully: the general statement that towels are not included refers to base entry, while named packages explicitly include them. The terms say the eligible complimentary drink is applied to the first beverage scanned on the wristband and that some drinks are excluded.

Using the published figures, Warm plus a rented towel totals ISK 8,890, while Calm is ISK 1,260 more. That is our calculation and is useful only if you would otherwise rent a towel. It does not value every drink or establish a universal cheapest package. Check live rates for your date; the operator reserves the right to change prices.

Pools, sauna and dining

The current homepage describes two geothermal pools at approximately 37 C. It lists the larger pool as 530 square metres with three swim-up bars and an indoor entrance, and the smaller as 330 square metres. The terms allow a broader 37-40 C range and note that weather can affect temperature. These descriptions should not be treated as a promise of exactly the same water temperature throughout the facility.

The Finnish dry sauna is described around 80 C and 20% humidity; swimwear is required there. A separate cold pool is listed around 11 C. These are optional settings, not a required hot-cold circuit. Forest Bistro offers light dishes in the wood-clad building. A bathing ticket is not a meal reservation, so check the menu and kitchen schedule if you intend to dine.

Children: book around both entry and exit limits

The homepage lists 18:30 as last entry for both child groups aged 12 and under. The terms separately say no children under 12 may remain in the lagoon after 20:00. The wording differs at the age-12 boundary: do not infer a later entry for a twelve-year-old simply from the terms' under-12 phrasing. Confirm with the venue if that boundary matters to your booking.

The terms require children up to sixteen to be accompanied by a guardian aged at least eighteen. After 22:00, under-eighteens need an accompanying guardian within the relationships specified by the operator. Non-swimmers must wear inflatable armbands and adults must supervise throughout. Children aged six and over cannot use the opposite-sex locker room; staff assistance is offered if needed.

The low-season city shuttle leaves at 18:45, later than the homepage's 18:30 child-entry cutoff. Families with younger children should therefore arrange an earlier journey or get explicit confirmation rather than assuming that shuttle works for all ticket types.

Getting there and using the shuttle

The operator estimates a five-minute drive and 3.6 km from central Akureyri. These are planning estimates, not winter journey guarantees.

June 1-September 617:30 from Centrum; 17:35 Urbanfarm on Hafnarstraeti21:00Verify the stop with your booking

The summer harbor service is described from Tangabryggja, normally hourly during the published daytime schedule, with a 09:00 departure in June-August only. It operates first come, first served; ticket holders receive boarding priority. The operator can add departures on busy cruise days, but that is not a reserved seat or a promise that every departure connects with a ship.

Children under six need a child car seat on the shuttle. Seats for ages one to five are provided; the venue asks for advance notice for ages one to three. Parents must bring a suitable seat for younger infants. Check the actual sailing-day timetable rather than relying on a generalized summer schedule.

Booking, arrival and cancellation

Tickets are issued for a selected date and time. The terms say a late arrival may lose availability and forfeit the ticket. Keep the emailed barcode accessible on your phone or print it. Changes and cancellations must be requested by email with the booking reference before the original slot passes.

For one to ten guests, the terms say cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice receive no refund. For groups over ten, that cutoff is 72 hours. Earlier changes or refunds are described in the form of gift cards; do not translate that into an unconditional cash refund. Read the current terms before payment.

The official FAQ now publishes daily hours of 10:00-midnight. The last reservable slot is 22:30, and everyone must leave the water by 23:30. A late ticket has no stated discount. Check holiday exceptions and the booking calendar before travel. The FAQ recommends a visit of up to two hours; it does not describe this as a strict time limit. Official FAQ.

Frequently asked questions

Can I bring my own water bottle or snacks?

The terms prohibit outside food, drinks and personal water bottles. Confirm arrangements for a specific essential need directly before arrival.

Can I take photos?

Phones are prohibited in locker rooms. Photography elsewhere requires express staff approval and is limited to private use under the stated terms.

Is it accessible?

The expanded official FAQ confirms disabled parking and an equipped accessible changing room. One escort is admitted free when the guest needs full assistance. This does not establish a particular hoist, pool transfer or doorway measurement; confirm those requirements before booking. Official FAQ.

Are towels and drinks in every ticket?

No. Warm is the base option. Calm and Delight name their towel and drink inclusions, with drink exclusions in the terms.

Changing, luggage and transport details that affect a visit

The official FAQ distinguishes changing cubicles from private changing rooms. Its shared changing rooms have cubicles for dressing, with lockers outside those cubicles. Showers include open and partly screened areas; do not assume an individually enclosed private shower. A separate accessible changing room can also be requested by gender-diverse guests, with advance email booking and four lockers; availability should be confirmed. Operator FAQ.

A small luggage room is available, with limited capacity. Ask before bringing large suitcases or relying on storage between a cruise and onward transport. EV charging is listed through the Isorka app; connector type, charging speed and price are not established here. Disabled parking is confirmed, which is different from verifying an uninterrupted step-free route from every parking space to the water. Operator FAQ.

The free shuttle cannot be seat-reserved; lagoon bookings give boarding priority. That distinction matters if a return connection is time-sensitive: admission does not guarantee the next bus seat. Reservations are made online rather than by telephone. The FAQ lists a 30-minute arrival allowance, but a change to a different slot is not guaranteed and does not remove the cancellation deadlines. Its payment answer accepts ISK cash and credit cards except American Express. Operator FAQ.

Can I leave the pools for lunch and return on the same visit?

The FAQ says no: plan the bistro before or after bathing. A meal midway through the visit should not be treated as a right to re-enter on the original ticket. Operator FAQ.

Kitchen timing and the limits of this fresh check

The newly inspected Forest Bistro page lists kitchen service 11:00-15:00 and 16:00-20:00. Its broader bistro opening wording is inconsistent: a top block says 10:00-22:00 daily, while the body says until 21:00, or 22:00 Friday/Saturday. Do not use either bar/bistro finish as proof that the full kitchen serves dinner until then. Dedicated bistro page.

That matters for the low-season 18:45 city shuttle: a long bath followed by dinner may finish after the published kitchen window. Decide whether to eat before bathing or arrange a different meal, and confirm admission/re-entry rules with the venue before treating a meal as a pause in the same ticket. The return shuttle is not a restaurant reservation. Shuttle schedule.

The new 2 November retrieval returned the FAQ's question headings but not the expanded answers. This does not establish that the answers changed or disappeared. Earlier FAQ details above came from the 1 November rendered-page review; the fresh terms, homepage and shuttle bodies reconfirm their own rules, but we do not relabel every earlier FAQ answer as newly verified. Confirm an essential accessible transfer, escort arrangement, last available slot or re-entry condition directly before relying on it. FAQ and current terms.
